He just plays Sherlock Holmes better than Benedict. A more accurate Sherlock Holmes. A friend asked me to make this. I am sorry for everything I have ever done. Benedict is one of my husbands. He just doesn't know that yet.
I really like RDJ in his other roles (Iron Man especially) more than his Sherlock Holmes one and I honestly prefer Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock. I respect your opinion and I do see your point. I do like Robert as Sherlock but in this comparison I would have to say Benedict is the better Sherlock.
I did take the time to read the bottom text, so I'm not taking a stab at you for posting this stamp; I wouldn't anyway. But I'll say that I do prefer Benedict, not because of his looks, his voice, just because of his take on Sherlock. They're all different actors with different strengths and weaknesses, and I personally enjoy BBC Sherlock rather than the films, maybe I would enjoy the films more if I was watching them at home rather than school in our English classes, but that is where my opinion currently stands. I can't just can't wait for Season 3, and so far I haven't stopped going on at my mum of all people about it. One of the things I definitely can't wait to see is the reunion between Sherlock and John, I'm expecting something along the lines of punch Sherlock>swear at him>then be nice after/tell him to get out. Even as a shipper of Johnlock, I'm not sure if I'd like to see it become canon, we don't really need the show to turn into a love story, I'll stick to writing fanfiction scraps and reading fanfiction. My friends that like Sherlock and myself are sane fans, I think that any respect for me would go completely if I was an insane fan.
(Couldn't agree more ~ a 'Sherlock Holmes' series that makes Irene Adler not only Holmes' "one true love" but also Moriarty, and makes John Watson an Asian female, loses all of my respect.
Don't get me wrong, it's brilliant as a TV series, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for female characters and Lucy Liu, but they ruined it by trying to make it a Sherlock Holmes thing. Boooo.)
I was sitting on the couch minding my own business when here comes an Elementary ad about "Sherlock's one true love is also.. his greatest nemesis!" With the words "MORIARTY" on the screen and "IRENE" and I just. I literally launched into a five-minute verbal rage in front of my whole family about how pathetic it is.
They ruined the characters. They ruined the storyline. They ruined the setting.
I mean, honestly. The BBC series with Benedict Cumberbatch kept very, very true to the stories and adapted to the modern world flawlessly. The hazy London underground, the shady characters and foreign intrigue, the brilliant deductive work, the last-minute escapes... brilliance. I loved every second of BBC Sherlock and eagerly await season 3, and the sooner disgraces to Sir Conan Doyle such as Elementary are taken down, the better.
(Also Sherlock Holmes was never meant to have tattoos, you idea-starved mofos.)
God, I need season three so badly you have no idea. I just keep writing fanfiction and crying over fictional characters and it's totally not healthy but I no longer give a fuck because it's been over a year and we still don't have a set date for the season three premiere. Not to mention it's a British show which means it will probably be aired there before it is aired where I live in the US. Doctor Who is aired on the same day, I believe. But I think Top Gear is a week before...
Dude, I'm over in Australia. We're gonna get it whenever you Americans decide to upload it online, so we're probably in for an even bigger wait... plus, Benedict and Martin have to do The Hobbit, and Benedict did Star Trek and has more movies coming up... I'm not getting my hopes up.
All the fanfiction. And all the tears. I hear ya, man.
Meh, I tend to prefer the original novels. The fact that I have seen people in tumblr fight over which Sherlock spinoff is better kind of bugs me. In my opinion, spinoffs are practically licensed headcanons/fanmade creations for all I care. Kudos to you for voicing your opinion and caring less over possible shitstorms.
Thank goodness, I was really confused to why your phrase was 'brainy is the new sexy' if you prefer Robert's version. I don't really mind all the interpretations of Sherlock Holmes though I am skeptical of Elementary. BBCs Sherlock has to be my favourite though, and like TRP mentioned fights over who's better kind of annoys me. You like that one and you like that one, alright! You don't have to fight each other because of it.
Wasn't sure myself actually there until I noticed the reference in your journal entry about harpooning a pig! Usually I would figure that through the tiny text like in the other stamps. Must've been clumsy today! *shrugs* To be honest, I haven't seen RDJ's yet nor have I watched Elementary either. A friend of mine requested me to watch BBC's Sherlock so I watched it and I can't say I didn't enjoy it (Though the hiatuses are really no shock to me since *le gasp* the actors also act in movies) so far when I did.
Yeah, Martin and Benedict became really big this year because they were cast in big moves. Martin in The Hobbit and Benedict in both The Hobbit and Star Trek into Darkness. And they had to do a bit more filming for The Hobbit recently, so the filming for Sherlock was put on hold. But, last I heard, I think they've gotten most of Sherlock done. There's still no set air date, but it should hopefully be sometime this year. The fans are just getting a bit stir crazy because it's been more than a year since the last episode. We're all joking that Moffat and Gatiss will finally air it three years from the last episode, so it will be more like canon.
I still love RDJ's Holmes. He and Jude Law are amazing together. I love the films, especially the cinematography, but Sherlock and it's cinematography are still higher up for me.
I noticed through tumblr and true points are true I must say. The joke was indeed funny. XD I also noticed some Mary bashing going on also and she had yet to appear. The actress playing her wasn't fond of it and I can't blame her for it either. V__V Another reason why I honestly don't have a set ship for BBC Sherlock (the flack was hit towards Johnlock shippers despite only some of them were the actual idiots). In fact, it's kind of hard for me to since my brother ships Sherlock and Molly after S2E3 , a female friend of mine ships JohnLock, and a male friend of mine ships Sherlock and Irene. I also remembered having a conversation with a fan that ships Asexual!Sherlock and Lestrade some time back and first my first fic rec was Sherlock and Moriarty so...*shrugs* Honestly can't say I loyally ship any pair.
I'm a big Johnlock shipper, actually. And, yeah, there are a lot of Johnlockers that take it too far. Amanda, who is playing Mary, is actually Martin's partner. And it's not like it's a bit surprise that she exists in this story. She exists in canon, after all. There was even a quote from Gatiss saying that Sherlock is going to come back after those three years thinking that everything between John and him is going to be the same, but it is actually never going to be the same again. I saw people calling him an idiot for that. I just sat on the sidelines watching the extreme Johnlock shippers going apeshit. I was so ashamed to be a part of that fandom that day.
To be honest, with so many dedicated writers and fanartist, I question why some fans want something to be official so badly. Considering Martin has a tumblr according to Benedict, I won't be surprised if he heard about it too. As for the timeskip...yeah...once something breaks and fixes back, it's not the same as it once was. And that's for any relationship in my opinion.
Yeah, exactly. Johnlock is only going to be a brotp and that's fine with me. I've got my fanfiction. I can write the scenarios I want. It may not be Sherlock canon, but I can still get what I want without whining like a baby.
